The Altron Medical Aid was established in April 1987 to address the healthcare needs of the Altron Group, and is administered by Discovery.
The Altron Medical Aid is a “closed” medical aid restricted to employees of the Altron Group or its associated companies and their dependants.
The Altron Medical Aid comprises two components. Firstly, a Personal Medical Savings
Plan provides cover for day-to-day medical expenses that you may incur. Secondly,
Trauma Benefits are covered from a “risk pool” which covers hospitalization and
other major medical expenses. Altron Medical Aid cover is detailed further below:
Personal Medical Savings Plan:
• Cover non-hospital medical expenses such as dentist and optometrist visits.
• The Medical Aid will either pay the service provider directly or you could claim
the cost back from the Aid.
• These costs are directly deducted from the pool of available funds in your Personal
Medical Savings Plan.
• These values are dependant on your insurance plan.
Trauma Benefits:
• Covers hospitalization.
• Illness treatment that requires hospitalization six weeks after and six weeks
before being hospitalized.
• Chronic conditions.
• All benefits and various rates are published annually.
