A claim refers to when an insured individual experiences a loss of, or damage to, their insured property and they file a claim with their insurer to repair or replace the property. For many people, this can be a very stressful experience. If their vehicle has been stolen or hi-jacked, their house broken into or even if they had a minor "fender bender", the emotional stress of the event combined with the inconvenience of losing the use of their property is never easy. An important thing to keep in mind when filing a claim with your insurance company is to do it straight away. Most insurance policies have an "expiry window", usually 48 hours, from the time of the event to when you need to file your claim or your claim might be voided. Another crucial thing to keep in mind when claiming is to always be truthful about everything regarding the situation, failure to do so may lead your insurance company to refuse honoring your claim, which might leave you with a rather large repair or replacement bill.
