Commercial lines refer to insurance lines that are specially designed for medium to large commercial enterprises. These commercial insurance policies are typically brokered by an authorised commercial insurance broker, employed by a commercial insurance brokerage. Due to the very complex nature of commercial insurance requirements, commercial insurance lines tend to have a very wide and diverse product portfolio to provide insurance services to even the most obscure enterprise. Commercial lines will typically offer fleet insurance, building and building content insurance, equipment insurance, insurance against cash in transit robberies as well as a robust business liability protection plan. Loss of income due to fire, flood or other disaster, man-made or natural, may also be covered as well as a number of other risks. Insurance companies who offer commercial lines will generally not offer personal short-term insurance solutions to private individuals, although this is not "carved in stone".
