In 1958 Home Trust Funeral Services was established as a subsidiary of Metropolitan Life as a result of a series of acquisitions by well respected funeral directors. The company was bought out in 1989 and their name changed to the HT Group. In 1993 HTG Life, the groups own life insurance company, was established. Ethos Private Equity and African Legend became shareholders 1997, allowing the company to gain more comprehensive share in the South African market. Finally in 2004, the company changed their name to the Doves Group.
Doves offers three different kinds of services to their clients, namely funeral services, funeral insurance and funeral products.
Funeral Services
Comprehensive funeral services, including cremation, embalming, and restoration art are offered at most Doves branches. Affairs are conducted with the utmost respect towards the family with the highest ethical standards, cultural considerations and highest regards towards the religious and ethnic requirements of clients. Various pre- and post-ceremony event management services are also catered for, including vigils, catering, “after tears” functions and a limo service.
Funeral Insurance
Insurance products are offered by Union Life, Doves insurance partners, to church groups, individuals, employers and large corporates. Claims are normally honored within 24 hours, once all required documentation has been received.
