Hosmed Medical Aid Scheme was founded in 1988 and operates as a non-profit
organisation. It was established by provincial and local government employees in
order to provide essential medical services to them.
Hosmed currently has about 29,000 members throughout South Africa and covers approximately
100,000 lives. This scheme currently has the lowest average principal member ages
for all registered medical schemes in South Africa. It also boasts very low pensioner
numbers.
Hosmed Medical Aid has the following benefits options available:
Hosmed Step
This is Hosmed’s entry level option that provides an overall annual limit of R500
000 per family per annum.
Hosmed Value
This mid-range option has an overall annual limit of R1 000 000 per family per annum.
Hosmed Plus
This comprehensive benefit option has no overall annual limit.
