MUA (Motor Underwriting Agencies) was established in 1988 as an underwriting agent for Fedsure General. Fedsure and Hannover Re split the shareholding of the company. At that time, MUA Insurance was one of only three managing agents and the first specialist-underwriting agency for the motor insurance market.
MUA mainly focused on becoming a leading specialist for high net worth clients through a network of predominantly independent brokers. This has not changed over the company’s 20 year life-span and is the reason for its success. A major milestone was achieved in 2001 when MUA was awarded a trading license for insuring motor and personal accident classes of business by the Financial Services Board. At this time, Fedsure General was sold to Investec and Hannover Re bought out their remaining share.
MUA Insurance currently offers three packages for their clients, namely:
Executive Motor
MUA Insurance offers a comprehensive insurance plan for executive, classic and exotic cars through a nationwide network of brokers. MUA Insurance can provide tailor made solutions to their clients due to their extensive expertise and knowledge in this niche sector. Benefits include zero excess payable if a claim is made within the first year of purchase, provided the principal driver is driving or present.
Classic Motor
On the forefront of the classic, vintage and collectible car insurance market, MUA’s Classic Motor policy is specifically designed for this niche market. In their words; “[A] product designed specifically for enthusiasts of classic motoring, by enthusiasts of classic motoring”. The highly specialised cover caters for collectible vehicles in a fashion that is not usually offered via regular insurers.
Executive Household
Designed with high net worth individuals in mind, the Executive Household policy offers cover that ordinary insurers do not. This niche insurance market has very specific insurance needs and MUA individually underwrites each policy to suit their clients’ specific needs. Emergency Assist
The Emergency Assist Benefits are an add-on to any existing policy that MUA offers. With extensive benefits attached to this add-on, it gives policy holders complete peace of mind in every regard.
