In South Africa, the Road Accident Fund is a very good example of liability insurance, taken out by the state, to compensate drivers for injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accidents caused by driver negligence. The Road Accident Fund has been in the news recently for being defrauded of millions by people who file frivolous claims and are paid large settlements.
