Established in 1994, Pharos Medical Aid aims to give its members a wealth
of healthcare benefits for a fraction of the price. Pharos Medical Aid assigns a
registered professional nurse to each of their members to ensure that the most appropriate
decisions are made regarding healthcare. This assists their members by preventing
them from creating unnecessary expenses so that their benefits are available to
them in time of real crisis.
Pharos’ main objectives are to reward members who are responsible about their health,
assist them and their dependants to stay as healthy as possible and to make sure
they are cared for when they are ill. Pharos Medical Aid aims to achieve these objectives
by guaranteeing that members’ claims are paid within fourteen days, allowing members
who have not utilized all the benefits of their Plus account to roll over so as
to accumulate savings (Rainbow Plus members only). These are only a few of Pharos
Medical Aid’s methods of achieving the objectives they have established.
Pharos Medical Aid has six different plans to cater for every individual’s specific
requirements. They are:
Rainbow Comprehensive
The top of the range option, the Rainbow Comprehensive plan is suited to individuals
with significant healthcare needs. It includes unlimited hospital benefits in any
private hospital, unlimited chronic and unlimited day-to-day care at any private
practice of the members’ choice.
Paladin Comprehensive
A mid range option, the Paladin Comprehensive plan offers unlimited hospital benefit,
substantial chronic and generous day-to-day benefits for individuals who prefer
to retain freedom of choice when it comes to their healthcare provider.
Footprint Comprehensive
The entry level option, Footprint Comprehensive plan is best suited to healthy individuals
who prefer to save a little more on their medical aid costs.
Rainbow Plus
The Rainbow Plus option offers members unlimited hospital cover at any private hospital
and offers a healthcare savings plan, Savings Plus account, to provide for day-to-day
care.
Rainbow Primary
Suited for individuals who only want hospital care and can afford to pay day-to-day
care out of pocket, the Rainbow Primary plan offers unlimited hospitalization benefits
at any private hospital.
Footprint Primary
The most basic plan, Footprint Primary is perfect for young, healthy individuals.
