Polmed Medical Aid is a closed medical scheme, catering exclusively for
members of the South African Police Service, employed under the Police Service Act.
The Board of Trustees, six employee appointed members and six elected members, are
entrusted with the task of ensuring the scheme operates optimally for the benefit
of the members.
Polmed Medical Aid utilizes a number of Network Service Providers to provide healthcare
services to its members. These include, but are not limited to:
• A comprehensive GP Network.
• Netcare 911.
• A comprehensive Network of pharmacies, including Clicks, Dis-Chem, MediPost Courier
pharmacy and more.
• A comprehensive dental Network.
• A family and virtual care Network
Polmed offers a valuable service to its members called Managed Care. This service
is designed to assist members in managing their benefits to receive cost effective
and appropriate care. There are a number of programmers available in the managed
care service including, but not limited to:
• Chronic medicine
• HIV management
• Maternity management
• Oncology risk management
