The Renaissance medical aid was administered by Prosperity Health. They
were established in 1994 and spread throughout the SADC region. Prosperity
Health had registered companies and satellite offices across most of
Southern Africa. The company was put under curatorship in 2008 and has since been removed from Council for Medical Schemes list of registered medical schemes in South Africa.
Renaissance
medical aid had two types of cover
available that were offered via three plans:
Whole Life Option
Renaissance had structured this plan, with an overall annual limit and covered
most medical disciplines. There was also an optional savings plan that could be used
to "top-up" the cover for day-to-day elective services.

Electcare Option
Renaissance medical aid had put together 2 plans for people on tight budgets, namely
Origin and Evolve. These plans had reduced annual limits and were suitable for people
who did not need frequent medical services. Out-of-hospital elective medical procedures
and medicines were provided via a network of preferred doctors and centers.
