Established in South Africa at the beginning of 1998 as a wholly own subsidiary
of Reliance National Insurance Company (Europe) Limited ("Reliance Europe"), Renasa
Insurance was granted unfettered license to underwrite and short-term insurance
business in accordance with the Short-Term Insurance Act. Early in 2004, Renasa
Insurance underwent a complete company revamp and the following factors were implemented:
• All shares were consolidated into a single holding company, supported by one shareholder
that had significant financial strength
• The board was restructured
• The executive was restructured
• Infrastructure was developed
• Head Office was relocated to Johannesburg
• Excellent reinsurance programmes were established
• Business objectives were realigned in accordance to a new strategy to deliver
improved underwriting benefits across its entire channel
The revised business strategy has already wielded desirable results and Renasa Insurance
aims to achieve the following goals in the near future:
• Insurance principles which are sound
• Creating flexible and tailored solutions
• And many more innovative improvements
In addition to traditional short-term insurance, Renasa Insurance also provides
a number of specialized insurance products. These include:

• Marine
• Contractor risk
• Agriculture
• Guarantees and Bonds
• Machinery breakdown
These products are distributed via three channels. These include brokers, portfolio
managers and UMA’s. Renasa Insurance operates in the Cape Region, Central Region
and KZN Region. Each of these regions has their own managers and decentralized decision
making processes, making service delivery more efficient.
