24 April 1972. The medical scheme is managed by a Board of Trustees which is comprised
of 6 Trustees, all of whom had been selected by the members of the scheme. Currently,
Topmed Medical Scheme has 11 200 members and boasts a +-50% reserve ratio which
places them in an excellent position as a long term, value for money option.
Consulting actuaries, specializing in medical care, have developed Topmed Medical
Aid’s current range of products to create legally compliant, affordable and sustainable
medical aid options for their members. These products have been developed to meet
the requirements of employers and employees in all fields of business.
Topmed currently offers 5 healthcare products. They are:
Traditional 100%
This medical aid is ideally suited to small and healthy families. This policy offers
hospitalization and day-to-day benefits at 100% of the Topmed Tariff. This policy
is perfect for people who do not have the time or desire to manage their own day-to-day
benefits.
Traditional 80%
The traditional 80% offers unlimited hospital benefits while covering 80% of day-to-day
medical expenses. This policy is ideally suited to people who are able to afford
the 20% excess but who want to save a little on their monthly premium.
Limited 100%
This option provides limited cover for hospitalization and day-to-day care, the
premium is much lower than the two previous options. Suited to small healthy families
without excessive medical claims, this option is affordable and offers sufficient
cover in the event of an emergency.
Topmed Hospital Plan
The Topmed Hospital Plan offers unlimited hospital cover. Perfect for small, new
families, it is affordable and covers you and your dependants in the event of requiring
hospitalization.
Topmed Network Option
Suited to people with access to a Prime Cure Network, this policy offers unlimited
hospital and day-to-day cover from Prime Cure Network Providers.
